What is this piece? 57 420W

What is the purpose of the curved bracket that runs from the front of the engine back to the bell housing? Is it specific to certain models? Is it for a specific implement? Why do so many 420's lack this piece?

Its a brace to support the tractor.
there has been many of those tractors broke into.
They should have made that standard equipment, especially if one is using a loader.

They are not part of tractor , they are front mount cult. brackets , used only with model 4240, 2 row cult.

Is there any reason I should keep them on the tractor? I'll never run a cultivator with it, so are there any other advantages to having the brackets on the tractor?

Not really , It's extra support between engine block & bell housing; But biggest problem I've seen is cracking & breaking (weaker point than eng. & bell) between bell housing & tran.

Well, I'll probably sell it then. There's no sense in keeping it when there may be someone out there who could put it to good use. If anyone needs it or knows someone who does, it's for sale.
