Two cylinder spark plugs

What plugs do you all run in your Johnny poppers? I was under the impression that autolite 3116 was the plug to recommend but they wanted to sell me champions at the Deere dealer. Plugs will be living in a 1954 70.

Just go to "AutoZone" and buy them..!!
Autolite #3116

Champeens are JUNK..(even IF you get 2 GOOD ones).!

Ron.

That's just what I thought, I just needed to hear it from someone else I guess. Bought another 70 today at a sale, it was only hitting on one cylinder. Goin back out there to pick it up tomorrow and figured I'd hit autozon on the way and stick some plugs in her before I load her up. Now have a 53 and a 54'' now need a 55 and a 56. It seems early number series and styled A's and B's are the only two poppers I can afford.

I agree with Ron... Champions ARE junk... I ran two B's with 4 row cultivators on peanuts down here in Va ever summer for 30 years and Champion D23, which is the hottest plug they make, fouled out 5 times worse than either AC or Autolite. Tell the dude at the parts counter "No Thanks"

Just my opinion.... Put plug adapters in it and run ngk's....

Gave 2 for this one, I have another in about the same shape that I believe is low houred that I gave 2250 for, both needed tires at the time of purchase. I'm not sure why they don't bring more but I enjoy em and they are in my price range. I saw a '49 g with a wide front and perfect paint/metal bring dam near 8 grand today.

thanks for the answer,, i'm looking at 2 and thought it was good i have had a few g's and they have gone out of my reach thanks

Dad's old A ran on Champions for years. Changed to Autolites and it ran like crap. Cleaned up the old champions, gapped, and it runs like a dream. These plugs are at least 20 years old.

Actually the difference is the 3116 is a non resistor plug unlike the conventional 386 and slightly hotter 388. I believe the heat range of the 3116 is right in close to the 386 and 388.

In the later styled tractors that used an 18mm plug, I believe Autolite 386 was close to the factory original heat range, while 388 is a bit hotter. Unlike the 386 and 388, the 3116 is NON Resistor Plug which is better matched and best for use especially if you have a Magneto Ignition although sure it works fine in a coil distributor ignition as its close in the heat range of the 386 or 388 family.

Unless you listening to AM broadcast radio, conversing with the airport control tower or working an AM Ham Radio Band? Radio suppression resistor plugs are not required .
