Maybe cracked or broken filter housing, oil line. Look in the archives on this site. This problem has been a topic many times.

I had a 1937 A that had rusted holes in the oil filter housing.
Might be the same problem. I couldn't get the housing out so
went down from the top and wraped a 1 inch strip of biccyle
intertube around the holes and held them in place with a large
holes camp.

Oil pump drive square coupler may be broken. Pull
top crankcase cover, turn tractor flywheel and see
if oil pup shaft turns. Check for cracks in square
coupler at top of oil pump shaft. Couplers are
available-must pull oil pump to install them.

Hi Roger, Looks like you are getting some good advice here. Earls note on checking the archives is a good one. If you have the cover off, turn the engine over and watch for leaks at the top of the filter can/head or at the tubing fittings. When I brought my 35 home the can was mashed out of shape from over tightening and required straightening. Please let us know what you find.
Good luck. VH

Sounds like he has a early 35A with the oil pump on the side of the crankcase. No coupler there.
