Need opinions of a John Deere 1050

My Daughter and Son In Law are looking at
a 1050 for their acreage. Not being familiar
with this model I am looking for some ideas.
It comes with a loader, rotary cutter and blade.
Has power steering and is 2 wheel drive.
It would be used for the usual care and up keep
of 14 acres plus snow work in winter. Thanks for the help, I appreciate it.

FIL has one. They're Yanmars more or less. Handy little rig. BUT Deere is carrying less and less parts for them. They're rapidly approaching "orphan" status.

I have a 1050 3 cyl. yanmar diesel tractor. high low range
4x4 drive. loader ,3 point hitch and back hoe. nice little
utility tractor. engine seems strong. 3 point works
great.don't have anything to use on the PTO.so far it is a
great little tractor.Hope this helps.

I worked for a neighbor who had one with a loader, MFWD, a rotary mower, and a three point mounted sickle mower. There were many people who ran this tractor besides me. It is a Yanmar tractor with the John Deere paint job and decals. I thought the 3 cylinder turbocharged diesel engine was a good engine and fuel efficient. I never liked the two stage clutch set up for the PTO, and I did not have the opportunity to operate it much. Others ran it much more often and put more time on it than I did, but I do remember the clutch needed to be replaced twice in the time I worked there. I had always suspected it might have been a bit of a weak point in the tractor, but professional mechanic would probably be better at confirming this than I could.
