TX jim I tried what you said but didn't work,i took the rear cover off the piston an drain the fluid and got the 3 pt back down, put cover back on,started the tractor and eased up the 3 pt alittle at a time(everything working like it should)and when it got all the way up I still have same problem,it is just not dumping the fluid off, anymore ideas? thanks

Be sure nut(parts key #44) is tight. The nut have a history of back out over time affect 3 pt linkage adjustment. Have you checked to be sure linkage is attached and moving external valve components?

I had a 7810 in here a couple years ago that they would not go down with out a "lot" of weight on the arms, come to find that they had not been used for several years and the upper shaft was frozen in the bushings, that serial number did not have grease fittings there, I had a time getting the shaft out, then took it to a lath and turned about 60 thou. off of it and drilled it for grease fittings,, I have never seen this on a 4430...
