3020 balancer

Does anyone know how much bearing clearance the 3020 balancer bearings are to have before they need to be replaced? I had a customer bring one in to the shop today to be checked. It has .007-.008,which seems a bit high, but all the service manual says is to rebuild it when it has too much wear.

Not sure on the wear but whenever I overhaul a 3020 I replace balencer shafts and bushings. When they fly apart they ruin lots of stuff and usually the block.

Here's the spec's on the bushings(R30784) but no spec's stated on JDparts.com for shafts

Weight: 0.11 LBS 0.05 Kg
Inside Diameter 1.124 IN
Outside Diameter 1.313 IN
Length 1.000 IN

Talk to some salvage yards as most 3020 diesels that end up as parts tractors due to engine problems is because the balencer was not serviced. When the bushings wear it will show some viberation and if not fixed usually they destroy the block when they come apart. You see this in high hour tractors. It was not a weakness but something that should be checked at an overhaul, just like oil pumps ect.Good used 3020 blocks are very hard to come by.

Have seen several 3010/3020 engines ruined by balancer. Have even seen them break off usually breaking the bosses off the block.
Other poster is right about finding used block. Next to impossible since the engine usually is what sent them to salvage..

Thank you for your comments. After disassembly we found no pin wear, but have the bushings ordered.

Another thing that makes 3010/3020 used blocks scarce is the limited number of tractors produced with the Waterloo 4 cyl engines compared to other engines.
