51 Model A Project

I have been reading this site for months and decided to purchase a 51A as a project. Found for sale, stored in barn but had not ran for about year. Pulled approximately 300 yards and started. Ran good drove on trailer to haul home. First task rebuild starter, now starts using lawn mower battery. Now completely town down and repairing mechanically then going to paint when the weather warms up

That is a great vintage of John Deere. I restored my fathers 49 A a few years ago. You can see a few photos of the process and the finished tractor on my webpage.

And, they can be useful.
This is my 1950 A. I was unable to run it due to health problems so son came over to push some snow. It was just above zero, the tractor was sitting outside, fired right off.

The project tractor idea was my downfall as well. Summer before last, started on a 1951 A and except for paint, finally finished it up this past Halloween. Now on to a 1950 A antique puller. These old tractors become addicting
