72 4020 Bearing noise?

I was brush hogging with our 4020 when it sounded like a bearing squeal like an alternator makes. But then there was a growl in the engine and the inside of the cab has a hot smell. I stopped the pto but there is still a growl from motor. Tried to feel bottom of transmission but nothing felt hot. Gauges were normal. Any ideas? Husband is out of town and he wanted me to get this mowing done.

It's possible you're hearing the pto engagement brg. I'd suggest to remove inspection cover on bottom of clutch housing and perform a visual inspection if tractor has a manual trans. What type trans does tractor have(Syncro-Range or Powershift)?

Rockytopp,the mowing can wait until he can check out tractor as it needs to be addressed so not to damage something.
