clutch fork assembly

Hi I am new to the forum, I am restoring a 1946 JD model A and I disassembled the clutch fork shaft from the clutch fork and now I am not sure which way it goes back should the top of the shaft be exactly perpendicular to the fork there is no way I can get that with the splines and which way should the bronze collar face thanks in advance for your replies

they should be 90 deg to each other, looking toward magneto, with splined shaft(linkage hole)towards mag, the fork should be as close to straight back as possible with flat side of bronze collar towards outside of clutch. hope this helps

thanks a49deere now I know which way the bronze collar goes but I cant get the shaft to a 90 from the fork it is off some degrees and if I move it one spline its off the same amount the other way I thought it was close to 90 before I took it apart I will have to post some pictures

hi here I have some pictures of the fork shaft and the fork assembly it is off the same both ways I was wondering which way to assemble it

took a look at mine, when looking towards mag, the end of splined shaft is say 11:30 to mag not straight at it. this is with clutch disengaged. probably is one spline off from 90Deg. hope this helps
