4020 Clutch kills motor in park

Last summer we ran out of Diesel and decided to tow it home
and put in diesel. We didn't get the synchro shifter all the way
in the tow area. The Clutch disc was toast. Just replaced that
and now when I let clutch out after starting, it kills the motor.
Not sure if there is still a problem in the transmission or
something is not hooked right. Once I pull the lever out of park,
I can only grind my way into a gear. Then when I let it out, it
kills the motor. Please help - rookie mechanic. Thanks

if you didn't get it in tow you ruined the top shaft the gears are welded to the shaft. split behind clutch housing remove top cover 3pt hitch transmission pump then top shaft

I get one of these near every year,, the gauld spot is normally just a bit at the edge of the high side pinion, and breaks loose in a press easily, then putting the parts in a lathe they clean up good to be reused,,service the synchronizers while our in there. It"s kinda amazing how just a bit of a guald will kill 100 hp dead....

Last one I did, the owner towed it to my place (without asking first), for a clutch job. It got a LITTLE more costly than that!

I understand my mistake. Thanks for the advise. That is what I was told all along and thought was my next step. Thanks for all the replies. Have a merry Christmas
