help---removing throttle lever 420

the throttle lever will not stay up (idle) on (green) 420. friction disk completely gone, I have heated and driven roll pin out. I have heated lever very hot all around end of rod and area of roll pin still cannot drive rod out of lever. what am I doing wrong and what to do?

I have removed a few of these and seems the best result is after you have heated around the rod on the throttle lever, use a hand held air hammer with almost the same sized punch that the rod is.
Make sure the air hammer punch is ground nice and flat so that it doesnt mushroom the end of the rod.
Safety first, dont forget the safety glasses. once you see it move, it will get easier. dont forget to check the roll pin hole after you get it apart. you may have to re drill it to size if it gets damaged . Hitting this rod with a hammer and punch just seems to bounce. Good luck

Another thing I have done is unbolt the bracket that mounts on the water/coolant pipe on top of the engine cylinder head (you will have to anyway to replace the friction disk on the inside). This will allow you to push the entire lever and rod assembly toward the rear of the tractor. . . from there you can heat up the ENTIRE part of the throttle handle that surrounds the shaft (there is a large portion that is inside the dash housing. I also try twisting the lever around on the rod to break it loose; you can also pull the throttle shaft forward like a slide hammer and the handle will be stopped by the dash casting. . . sometimes several pulls will loosen and separate the lever from the rod.
