Belt Pulley bearing

Trying to remove the pulley bearing on a JD H pulley. The internal snap ring that is holding it in is tapered on the ends. Any advice on how to remove it? Thanks, Mark.

Been awhile, but doesn't that snap ring just keep it from going down in too far? The A,B you just drive out from the backside.

If that snap ring must come out you need some screwdrivers with good ends to get it started and small one to jamb in as you go to hold it out. Once out regrinding the tapered ends will help the next time to get it out.

It takes two people most the time one to pri it out the other to get something behind it, good luck and alot of patients

I will have to read up in Pat Brownings restoration guide to see if he says something about the removal of the bearing. I thought I might get lucky and take it out the disk side instead of pulling off the gear and operating sleeve and still might have to deal with the same type of snap ring.

There are times, in some situations that using an Acetylene Torch to turn that Snap-Ring RED is the best option..

After it has been RED, they bend right out..easily.

Just a thought..

Ron.
