product support

Recently ran into a product support issue with JD. I have a 2004 JD 2210 compact tractor. I purchased a JD 260 backhoe made in 2012. Before buying the backhoe, I was told JD sold a sub frame mounting kit for $1200 for attaching the 260 to the 2210.

Now JD has discontinued the kit but says I can buy all of the individual parts that are in the kit for a cost exceeding $3000. The parts are available but JD no long sells them as a kit.

Has anyone else run into a similar problem with JD?

The local JD Dealer is great but Corporate is the one making the decision.

As another request, does anyone have JD 260 sub frame mounting kit available for sale? I have a JD 2210 that needs the JD 260 backhoe attached.

Thanks

Kinda had the same issue. I needed a hydraulic speed control valve. The parts guy was pizzed off and throwing things, said it wasn't available as a kit anymore, said he'd have to get everything separate. Didn't make him happy when I told him to go ahead and get it however he had to. When it got here,it was all in one piece, plus an extra lever that he had ordered because the parts site said he had to.

I am aware that parts that used to be available thro the local dealer are no longer available even though they are still available in The USA - I am in Wales UK.

Your tractor is nearly 10 yrs old. How long do you propose ""any manufacturer"" should stock a whole goods kit collecting dust?? Every yr this kit sits on the shelf collecting dust the possibility of a retail sales dwindles.

I sent my 4020 (my loader tractor) to get a new clutch put in and the shop forman warned me it would cost more than the last clutch because they could not get a rebuilt clutch from JD anymore and had to get it all in parts. I realize a 4020 is an odd tractor that didn't sell very good!!! lol

I understand the tractor has been updated and is being marketed with some changes to the frame. The newer models have mostly a plastic shell and fenders versus metal. However, the fact that all of the parts still exist as individual order items creating the necessity to assimilate the individual parts into a single order to create a kit does not (in my opinion) justify a 300% increase in the cost of the parts. I would understand a surcharge but 300% is over the top.

I have the local dealer looking around for a kit within the dealer networks. Hopefully, I get lucky. Or maybe a Kubota makes more sense as a package deal.....?

Thanks for the feedback.
