JD quick hitch problem

My JD quick hitch I use on my JD 4020 somehow got sprung out about 1/4 to 1/2 inch wider that what it should. It needs to be narrowed to the orignal width so it can be used on my implements. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to accomplish this? If it knew there was a heavy duty press in my area I would approach that method. I was wondering would a 3 x 8 cylinder attached by chain the the yokes and try to bring in that way would work? Any assistance is always appreciated. It is the early original quick hitch that first came out.

As I was reading this post my first thought was a press. Then I saw you had already thought of that.
Is this cast or welded?
Your cylinder idea would be worth a try. Be careful.

A press would be my first choice[and safest] but I have fixed them with the down pressure of my loader. You might need to heat it if its twisted. The ones with the levers are hard to find and sell well. When they first came out on 4010s there was no hole in bottom for a holding pin and they would get dirt in them and pop right out.I trade nice Jeffers and Sturdy Builts for the ones that need work.

The ratchet binder and as it gets "real tight" smack it with your favorite sledge hammer in the correct spot...with a press or a cylinder you won't have much control of the situation...
