Hey guys went to his farm today and the sn is after the break 0118xx. So...how bad of a job is it to fix the leak?

mitch, If your mechanic isn't a big fat guy you can lay on cab floor or operators platform and replace this leaking seal. The late steering pump design can be left connected to the hoses. Four of the six 3/8" bolts can removed from it to lower metering pump from steering column bracket. The soft seal can be then replaced with your fingers.

Remove the steering wheel ,lower hoses and the hinge bolts and drop the valve down out of the dash (leaving the dash in place),check the plastic bushing in the column and the thrust bearing as you lift the column off the steering metering pump (leave 2 of the bolts in the metering pump so as not to disturb the lower part, it won"t need attention)there is one seal that will be exposed that is the one that is leaking "but" if the thrust bearing and plastic bushing is worn it lets the shaft work up away from the seal, and even a new seal will leak...
