I Have a john deer 350 crawler with a rough running condition that comes and goes. i suspect the injector pump has a bad governer. do these pumps have a history of problems? How do you time the engine for removal of the pump?

Have you tested the injectors? There's a timing pin that holds the cover on the hole in the flywheel housing. When engine is on #1 TDC the pins fits in a depression in flywheel.

Hey Don,
What pump do have on that 350. If you still have the little pump that's probably your problem. That's how they acted when they gave up. Be sure to check the easy stuff first like filters, fuel flow to the pump and injectors before you condemn the pump. Good Luck!

I had the pump rebuilt and found the governor was shot. They also found what looked like coffee grinds in it and a plugged terurn port to the tank. thanks for the input.
