Australia Vegemite and Combine Tires reversed

Yes B&D - I have had a good feed of Vegemite - it is "made from yeast extract from yeast grown on barley and wheat" as the jar says!!!

I have it every morning on soda crackers with a slice of old cheese -I really like it- since you are known for your old cheese B&D --you should give it a go, if you can find it in a store in Ontario -my wife Janis has never seen it in the grocery store though - if you can't find it, give me your address B&D, and I will mail you a small jar to try!!
As for the combine tires or "header tyres" as the Aussie's call them, a lot are mounted backwards -their theory - when you get mired in mud, there is a lot more traction to back out since there is no point going further ahead.

The tracks on the combine are a demo so far - everything here is dried up at present, but I suppose since there is no tile drainage here that with some rainfall, the red clay dirt in the area would get quite slippery quickly.

Also posted a picture of a 3' x 6' tin sign I picked up at the dealership that was just lying out behind the shop on the ground mixed in with assorted junk. It is now resting safely in my backyard. The leaping deer is quite faded but the lettering is still good. Otherwise it is in excellent condition with no tears or damage other than the rust that I will try to wash off.

Ken that red dirt out there gets real slippery very quick and then sloppy/boggy just as quick. We just bourght a 9600 header from chesterfeild in dalby and the farm it was from got a new one with tracks and they recon it very rough in the dry paddocks like driveing a challanger this year. The tires facing backwards also slowdown tire wear when doing lots of road work and you are right about being able to back out of mud

I have heard of the reverse tire direction theory around here years back,,in my opinion a silly idea, make them go the right way and you may not need to back out is my thoughts...

We have run across Vegemite in Sobies . The stuff is nowhere near spreads, jam, peanut butter etc. instead it"s hidden near the baking yeast.
Vegemite is an acquired taste . With enough crackers and old cheese It"s likely palatable.
Do the Ausies mix up the definition of crackers, cookies , biscuits, scones ,chips and fries like the Brits do ?

They "Do" have different definitions down there that's for sure..

It was common to reverce then on the tractors with mounted corn pickers here in the USA. And if you got to a wet spot you could back away but in no way could you go forward. Trying to continue forward would only bury the front end deeper, backing out would pull front end back up on solid ground.

Yes Leroy that thought does have merit,, but so does the thought of better traction to continue going forward,and when your in extreme muddy conditions you try every angle, I sure have been through my share of mud in the past, If I would have had a camera back then I could have had a full length movie of stuck combines and tractors, and how we would tie everything on the farm to a big unit to get it out of the mud, and yes it's different ideas and out-looks that make the world go round.

As soon as you start to get mut that the wheels start to plug you stop and back out and go around the wet spot, never try to go through it. I have had that front end balled completely up with mud that took a day to dig out.
