Tx Jim might post a page from the parts catalog to help us out, but until then I would check up in the steering column above the hand pump. There is a thrust bearing in the steering shaft that will disintegrate and make the steering tough. I have seen this a few times.

I just found out from the owner of the tractor that they have put 3 complete steering columns on it with no change, they all acted the same way. So i dont think its anything to do with the column and I put my valve with all my fittings on it this morning and that helped alot. It had several places that acted like it was sticking when you was turning the steering wheel. Now with my valve on the tractor it is no longer doing the sticking and is a 100% better it just doesnt steer as easy as it should especially when you force the steering wheel. Wondering what you guys think about the back pressure piston in the front steering motor? Is there any way to check for that? Or what would be any symptoms for the back pressure piston failure?

What is the stand by pressure ??,,and yes the steer motor could be causing the problem,,,If all else has been tried,, that's where I would go next....

Some times #30 check valve leaks pressure past and gives a bit of a Hydraulic lock, this would give you the easy steer as you start up then getting harder afterwards..and the thrust bearing in the column needs looked at when you have it apart like Tech7 stated..

When you get into the steer motor get back with use for help getting that ornery pin out that hooks the pistons together and timing the pinion...

it steers fine as long as your easy with the steering wheel,if you had to make a turn real fast is when it gets hard.A friend of mine said he had the same problem an just took the metoring pump apart and put it back together with new gaskets and it was fine after that
