Model D coolant drain plug

The Parts book shows a Model D coolant drain plug as part C1865R but unavailable from Deere. Is it just a 3/4 NPT plug and are the originals available from anywwhere.

Thanks for any help.

Ron

It's just a pipe threaded plug, but the originals had a LONG easy-to-get-a-wrench-on hex, rather than the little square head on a standard pipe plug.

I'm sure one of the restoration places must have them, or it would be real simple to machine one out of a piece of hex bar stock.

The 3/4 inch pipe plug with a hex head for the early model A is still available (#A2093R). May not be exactly like the original for the D but better than a regular square head pipe plug from a plumber's supply house. It's $4.07 from my JD dealer and it shows he has one in stock!

I have a rubber compression boat drain plug in mine. It has been there over 10 years without any drips. You can get them anywhere. My block threads were gone.
