Will somebody post a side view picture of a model A (not a puller) with 13.6 x 38 rear tires and then another model A with 14.9 x 38 rear tires? I have a 1945 A and I want to know how the tractor will look with each size tire. I don't want it to sit low in the rear but I don't want it to be too high either. Thanks

You will need 13 or 14 inch rims with your up date. I hate to see side walls sucked in. In my opinion , one inch less in either case would be max. The ole tractor will look a little out of place either way. Be like putting Joe Louise's boxing gloves on a house mouse.

1948 A with new 13.6/38 last month. These are "Alliance" brand 8 ply tires.

Do you mean 12" or 13" wheels? !5.5 tires are for 14" rims.
You are right tho the tires should fit the wheels. He should measure his rim and use the tire size for that wheel.

Old Popper what size of 16 in tires you have in the front? I got a 48 A like yous and needing new front tires and I like the look of yours.I know they make 2 or 3 sizes of 16 in fronts. Mine has dry rotted flat thread tires on it and I cant read the size on the tires.Good looking tractor you have. Mine aint near as nice as yours. I bought me a fixer upper and I been working on mine for about 9 months now and still have a ways to go.

If I remember right 5.50/16 was standard. I have 6.00/16's on my 51 A with 13.6/38's on the rear and the front end sits a little high. It does have Roll-o-Matic if that makes a difference. Jim

The fronts are 5.50/16 and I can't tell you the brand. The tractor is out at the farm and I'm nice and warm in town.
I bought that A about 20 years ago for $125. It needed a carburetor, but I had a spare. Sometimes a guy gets lucky.

A 13.6x38 tire will fit on an 11 inch wide rim just fine, and no, the sidewalls will not be sucked in. My 1940 Farmall M had 14.9 tires when I first bought it. Those tires were basically junk, so I replaced them with brand new, Akuret 13.6 tires. There is NO difference in how the tractor sets. Front tires are 6.00x16 and the tractor sat level before AND after the rear tire swap.
