Tx Jim and Bob,
Hope I didn't create a problem for you. This 3020 is a gas tractor and has 12 volt electrics.

The switch which you kindly posted has more terminals than on the new switch I have for the 3020 12v gasser.

The JD Parts Catalog from JD website gave switch part number AR 28401.

This switch has 6 terminals B (assumed battery), HD1, HD2, FL, TL, R2 and the dimming resistor.

The old switch (which tested bad) also had 6 terminals. There were broken wires for the FL and TL of the old switch and from what I can tell, nothing connected to the R2 terminal.

However, I'm still curious as to what R2 is for. Thanks for your inputs.

Ron: FL black wire to rear food lamp, TL ter. is red wire to rear tail [red] lamp. With 4 light fender lamps you won't need resistor; on new switch.. White wire to rear outlet socket , connects dir. to battery or wire going to B ter.on switch...
