John deere 2040 coolant heater

Is there a place to put a block heater on a 1977 2040? The coolant hoses look way to short to put a hose heater on one. But dont see a spot for a block heater either

Assuming you own a US three cylinder 2040 and not the turbo four cylinder version the rest of the world has?
It's all in the parts book.

Hey b&d why do you think the engine coolant heater is different on a 3 cyl vs a 4 cyl turbo engine? The "where used search" on JDparts putting in AT72330 shows it also fits 4 & 6 cylinder turboed engines.

FYI there were no 2040's built strictly for sales in the USA but rather built for N. American sales which is totally different than USA. :wink:at 21:22:42 11/04/13)

Easiest way to install a tank-type circulation heater is to attach one end to the block-drain port, and the other to the thermostat housing. Some of the engines already have a pipe-plug in that housing. You just remove it and install a hose fitting. If not there - you drill it and tap it with a pipe tap.

This is on a three cylinder, but works the same on a four.

Thats awsome i have the three culinder was just out looking at
it. Pic is worth a thousand words thank you!!!

Glad to see you are smart enough and care enough to use a proper block heater. Instead of killing the battery, wearing out the starter, using ether. Or building a jackleg tarp covered flame heater abomination.
