Checking oil pressure

When checking oil pressure with a master gauge should the engine be running or just by cranking it over . If it needs to be running how do I make it run by not having the automatic fuel shut off connected. Thanks

checking engine oil pressure is done with the engine at operating temperature and running. I'm not sure what you're asking about the "automatic shut-off".

The engine should be running. Either have a helper hold the button/knob down on top of the sediment bowl, or wedge something between the fuel tank and knob to hold it down and supply fuel to the carb.
