Roll-O-Matic hubs

So I got a great deal on a ROM front end to put on my B. I was super excited until I got everything put on and realized the front tires are too far apart. I think it has what I believe are wide front hubs rather than narrow front.

I compared them to the hubs on my 530 and there is a noticeable difference between the two in where the wheel sits on the spindle. If my thoughts are correct, would I be able to buy correct hubs and put them on so I don't look stupid? I realize this will cost some money, but I got the ROM for less than $100.

I included a photo of my tractor and one of a 70 that is correct.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Try reversing your rims. I like mine set like your top
pick for stability. Although for narrow rows I can
reverse my rims and they look like your lower picture.

Check the part number on it. It may be a heavy duty New Generation front end. I had a 620 that had one on it,couldnt figure out why the wheels were setting wider than my other tractors. 1268 front rims, which are correct for it. I put them on my A just to see, they were normal on it. So i checked some part numbers and indeed thats what it was. I didnt like the looks of it, just like you.

(quoted from post at 21:56:22 10/14/13) I think(don t laugh) you just need rims with a different offset.

I agree it's the rims. Besides reversing the rims some rims had different offsets. What's the number on the rims?

Hey Messing,
Try turning your rims around. If you look at the manual there is a section describing a wide and narrow option by turning the wheels around depending on ground conditions and row spacing. Good Luck, John

That is the correct Roll-O-Matic front end for your tractor (you can tell by the indentations on the top) but the hubs are for a non-ROM narrow front or a wide front. ROM hubs will have the wheel flange in approximately the center of the hub. The correct hubs should be very easy to find. Mike

Wouldn't it be easier to simply find the part
number on the hubs and the rims? The hubs will
have a casting number usually on the inside of the
flange in raised cast lettering.

The rims will be stamped...usually on the wheel
center near to the rim...JD1268 or something
similar.

With those part numbers we can find the answer.

That's the reason I posted the parts catalog schematics that showed the casting & part numbers with serial number breaks.

I have some numbers...

ROM: A4201R
Hubs: F843R
The wheels are not the original, one is Deere, but couldn't find the code.

Hubs on my 530 that are correct: B27196* not positive on the last digit.

Your rims are in the wide position. They will shed mud and snow better, but will also steer harder in that position.
