Hey guys,
Question on a flooding carb on my 51 A. Tractor would load and run very rich to the point of almost stalling. Adjusting made no difference. I assumed a leaking needle valve so I put in a new one and adjusted the float to spec. It made no differnence. I then figured maybe it was a venting problem. I found I couldn't blow through the bowl vent. I knocked out the little brass vents and with my hand used a small drill to open up the vent orifice. It seemed like a lot of dirt and some kind of felt stuff came out. My question is if there is suppose to be some kind of felt in this orifice? Seems like dirt and dust would be able to get in the carb without something in there and maybe upset the air mixture as this orifice is open to one of the drilled passages in the carb. What would I use to put back in there if something needs to be in there? I did stick the carb back on the tractor to try it and it no longer floods. Any ideas?
Thanks, John
