830 3 cylinder deisel

The last two times tried to start the motor turns over fine but will not start. Run battery down trying. Checked fuel filter and it was not clogged up. Any Suggestions?

It could be a bad fuel solenoid, listen for it to make a clicking sound as you cycle the key. If it does not make any noise remove it from the pump and try to start engine. If it starts you have to push it back in to shut it off. If it makes noise you could loosen the nuts at the injectors and see if you are getting any fuel at the injectors. No fuel could be a bad pump or an air leak. Check these and post back what you find.

IIRC the 830 built for N. American sales had a push/pil cable to control fuel at injection pump. It's possible the metering valve in inj pump is stuck.

Fuel pump working? Getting fuel to the inj pump?
Did it start OK before? Stuck metering valve was not common on those pumps. If getting fuel to pump but not injectors transfer pump blades were bad about wearing. If has been starting OK cold but not hot head wear is common.

Really have not had any problem starting until this summer. The last time it ran was hard to start but once cranked it was not a problem for several days.

That's the symptoms of fuel draining out of filter back to the tank.

That would be check valve in fuel pump wouldn't it. Try hand primer to see if it goes out of stroke.
