After hot tank and glass bead while installing the 5/8" wheel studs, it was noticed that one of the two hubs had radial and circumferential cracks.
Is this common or do I just have bad luck. I have another set on the tractor I am attempting to build into a puller and they are also cracked.
Are these cracked hub safe for pulling?
Attached a couple of pictures of the cracks and this project.
I'm leery of the cracks but I'm not a puller and we would not use cracked hubs on a race car. It's a long way down to the ground if a wheel falls off a tractor, even if it is only going about 3 mph.
Getting ready to throw out one of the racers so I can get started fabricating a back cover, hitch, wheelie bars and weight brackets. These old tractors may be more work than I bargained for.
