12v 2 brush generator terminal identification

Apparently it's not a Delco as nothing is stamped around the posts. On the inside I can tell one post has a heavy plastic insulator around where it goes through the shell of the generator and it does not attach directly to a brush. The other post does not have much of an insulator if any and attaches directly to a brush. Can you tell me from that description which post is the field and which is the armature?

The post that does not go to a brush has a wire that goes to the field. Right?

Not sure what the field is. I tried to attach a photo.

The fields are those windings attached to the housing. So that terminal that has a wire attached on the outside goes to the field thus making it the field terminal.

On some the bigger of the two posts would be the ARM, smaller one FLD.

With the armature and brushes all in place, the one with higher resistance to case frame is FLD and lesser resistance is ARM.

The FLD post has but one wire, the end of the 2nd field windings. The ARM post has 2 wires, one to brush other to first field.

Got it???
