620 oil press gauge

The needle sure fluctuates alot between medium and high when operating at WOT. I wonder if its just the gauge or should i be checking pressures?

Hook up an independent Gage and find out before you get a seized engine. If hasn't been common on that tractor something is going on for sure. PS: Time wasted on here would have undoubtedly found the PROBLEM. You already know your TRACTOR, we are only now learning about it.

Time wasted? I am out nothing by asking a question. The only time i have wasted is by reading your reply and responding to it. THANKS EVER SO MUCH MR. CARLYLE HOFFMAN.

There is nothing in the gauge that would cause it to self flucuate. You have an issue in the engine causing this problem, installing a test gauge may mask the problem by attenuating the pressure pulses. It may be difficult to diagnose the problem, but I suspect you may have main bearing trouble.

Hi-

Given the tone of some of the other emails, I'll offer another suggestion.

Does the pressure fluctuate at all at the lower RPMs?

If it does not, I'd suspect something with the oil pump, perhaps an obstructed suction screen that runs out of capacity at higher RPMs (requiring more volume).

I'd also check with a pressure gauge in various locations- like right out of the block, and then after the fuel shut-off. From the factory, your 620 had a fuel shut-off that is fed by the oil gauge line. If the pressure fails, it is supposed to shut off the fuel. Wierd things can happen with these after nearly 60 years.

Don't worry about the rude guy. He is wasting his time here, too.

Thanks guys. Just the kind of answer i was looking for! It still has the auto shut off fuel system. I think i will start small and work my way up.
