Is a 5/8-11 (17/32) coarse thread tap correct for the 5/8 holes in the axles and the cast wheel centers on my 1945 model A? Thanks.

There are 5/8s, bores all over these tractors, YESSSSSSSS, it is. Make sure you use a lubricant and never chase completely with out reversing the tap several times at least a turn or 2.

Thanks for your prompt response Mr. Hoffman. I always use lubricant and constantly turn in and back off when I tap a hole.

If you're using the tap to clean out rusty threads I suggest soaking them good for a few days with penetrating oil, Kroil or ATF before going in with the tap. The rust will knock the heck out of a good tap and possibly lock it up in the hole.
