1945 John deere Model A

I have a 1945 model A (serial number 554698)and would like to connect with others who might have this same model tractor. Thanks.

Post some phtos of your 45"A", close ups and glammour shots, photos of unique things about your tractor, photos of wear over the years/damage, then writs some info about it, noises it makes, is it easy to start ect. The photo is of my 46 "A" Long Hood. The photo was not taken by me, but, the man I bought it from in FtWorth Texas. This photo along with 2 others was sent to me in and email when I asked for photos before I decided to buy the tractor. I could write 10 full pages of info on this tractor since I got involved with it.

i just bought '46 A this summer. nothing to look at but it runs prime after sitting for 5 years. i put back tires tires on it. mine for some reason has a water pump and radiator off a late A and has a power block but yet is still hand start. has a power-trol and pressed steel rear rims. heres a picture of it before i brought it home. i know im a farmall guy but i love them old two cylinders for some reason.

My buddy just bought one a few weeks ago that is around that year, he got a slant dash A and slant dash B and 2 full sets of cultivators with them.

We have a 46A named "Easy".

Old tractor was uglier than my stepmother when we got it.

"Easy"</a> cleaned up pretty good.

Use the tractor and #5 mower to cut our hayfield.

Bob I'll have to get back with you on that cause the story really starts back in 1963 like the start of a Frank Capra Movie. I'll take some time and make some audio notes on my little tape recorder.

Since there are so many other long hoods here. Thought I would add my 47 Model A to the mix even though it's not a 45.

Thanks for the picture Walt.

My 1946 A is just 5,912 tractors younger than yours (sn 560610). Originally belonged to my grandpa. Sorry for the poor quality pic, it was the only one I could find on short notice...
