Thanks fellas we rescued one out of a barn today just got it running after sitting for 15 years. I'm not a Deere guy but always love resurecting old equipment.

That"s not completely correct. There were tractors equipped with generators that where negative ground

That may be true, Greenday, but they weren"t JD"s. ALL 2 cylinder Deeres left the factory as positive ground-although some were 6-volt and some were 12-volt.

I don't always have the exact correct answer, due lack of certain experiences, but years ago i learned the ENGAGE BRAIN before opening MOUTH. As has been said , ALLLLLLLLLL 2CYLS were FACTORY POS GROUND.

Yes that is correct but rick deere stated that if they had a generator they were pos ground and if they had a alternator they were neg ground but did not state that he was talking about 2 cylinders only. How many 2 cylinders came equipped with alternators? Example- 4020 had a generator but was neg ground.Just trying to make sure the info we give is clear.

Take a look at the information from external_link that indicates the JD Model 60 electrical system is a positive ground.
