John Deere AR

I purchased this tractor about 10 years ago. The serial #282903 is on the tag. I am currently giving it a face lift when I noticed yellow paint underneath the green paint. It is all over the tractor. My question is did John Deere make an ARI. Need help before I repaint it.

If you are worried about the,"correct critics" judging your tractor because they don't like the way you painted "YOUR" tractor, tell them to take a hike. Unless one of them is your boss or signs your pay check.
What i'm saying, is its your tractor and you can do with it whatever you please.
Why don't you show some independence and paint it some other color than the JD green/yellow.
That will cause some of them to have a hissy-fit, and it will give you something to laugh about.

Larry; As Harvey stated it is your tractor, paint it as you wish. John Deere use a yellow primer under the standard green and yellow. You could try John Deere Archives to see if your tractor has any unusual idenity.

wow, what an angry answer about color when the question was about the model tractor prior to repainting it.

Hey harvey, can you please post some pics of your pink with purple polka dots deeres, or your electric neon blue with orange flames, i would like to see that. I would think someone so admient about someone else painting their tractor any color they want should surely be able to show some of the interesting paint jobs you have on yours...

Larry, an answer to your question, no, they did not build an ARI, an AR, AO, or AI, and if you think that yellow paint underneath is original and not primer, then i would start with the parts manual and see if some of the AI parts are on your tractor.

If that doesnt work then either send T/C 35 bucks and get your serial number checked, or go to the john deere pavilion in moline, serial number in hand, and check it on the kiosk and see what it says.

I can't find the word admient in the dictionary.
Would you tell me what it means? So that I can answer you properly.
I didn't know my answer was so angry. All I said was its his tractor and he has the right to paint it any color he chooses.
By any chance would you be one of the critics I spoke of?
Your response had more angry overtones than mine. No I don't have all the colors you mentioned, but i'm planning on painting a JD to suit myself.

The AI tractor has a unique identifying feature. The front corners of the frame are squared-off and have tapped holes for mounting industrial equipment. I checked the AI serial# list and your tractor is not listed.

Your AR is a 53. No square castings on the frame as the unstyled ones. You need to look at the hard to paint areas. Up under the hood, under the foot platform, ect. to see if there is yellow paint all over. It may have been special ordered with yellow paint. Two-Cylinder as mentioned can check your number.

Larry,

I remember seeing some of that yellow primer when I repainted my 53 AR. Wish I could find pics, that was a long time ago.
