2030 hydraulic level?

Hello, can anyone tell me how to check the hydralic level on 2030 diesel JD. The place to check is evidently near heal of right foot area. Do you run the tractor during check and is this a dipstick with proper level or does it just screw off and has to be full? Can you overfill? Thanks

The dipstick is as you said near your right heel just ahead of the axle. Check with engine idling and dipstick on top of threads-do not screw it in. Do not overfill.

The dipstick on my 2040 is plastic and does not indicate where to accurately fill to. It just has a cross-hatched bottom end. I think the previous owner took this to mean he should fill to the top of that area, causing me a hydraulic overflow problem.

It is news to me that you check it while running. I looked in my operators manual and it says to check it after setting. Then just set the stick on the threads. Not screwed down.

I do not know of any JD that you check while running.

I sure thought one checked JD utility tractors of that era while running. I have no operators manual for one though to find out for sure.
