I an a bit confused on the type of distributor in my 1010 backhoe. It has the spring clips at hold the cap down.I have been looking at tune up parts on fleaBay and there seems to be different parts up to a certain S/N and then different parts after that? The S/N of the tractor puts it as a 1965.But the pictures of the rotor and points look different than what is in my tractor. There are Wico,Prestolite and Delco distributors? Some of the tune-up kits claim to fit all? It still starts and runs OK but every thing looks pretty well shot, especially the rotor, cap. Just trying to figure out what to order, or ask for at NAPA.

Their should be a tag on the outside of the distributor telling you what the make and serial # is. If that is not the case just take the cap, rotor and points with you to NAPA. Old NAPA stores have books with pictures to compare them to to find the right parts, the new stores only have computers and won't be much help with out the information on the tag from the distributor.

For a 1010, there is only one Delco distributor that uses a clip-on cap. Takes points # AT14467T and condensor AT14468T. The other distributors used in 1010s with a clip-on cap are the Prestolite for which the parts are totally different - or the Wico which is also different.

Also a 4th made by Delco with a screw-on cap.

Chances are you've got a clip-on Prestolite.
Points are Deere # AT21062 and A&I TPAT21062 or NAPA ECH CS729A
Condensor is AT14684 (NAPA ECH AL869)

Photos are easy to find for ID purposes.

I took my cap and rotor to NAPA and they matched them up with Echlin parts.Perfect fit.I see the old points and condensor were blue streak and I wrote those p/n's down for future ref. Also have the numbers from the Echlin parts too.I was so elated to get distributor parts I forgot to ask for plugs! It has Champ H-14Y in it, they look very worn.I can't believe it always started and ran as well as it did.The old points had less than .010 gap and were horrible looking too.Does the H-14Y sound right? I have no book for this tractor yet.Was thinking about switching to Autolite brand?
