rebuilding B governor

Hello all, I have a '40 B that I need to replace the bearing behind the mag drive coupling. I'm having trouble getting the coupling to move on the shaft. So far I have supported the fan shaft gear on the press and made a tool to push the shaft out of the coupling. I have a small press at home and have reached the max on the press. Is there some other method of getting this thing to move? Thanks dave

You have to remove the coupling first all by itself. If you push on the gear you are also pushing on a snap ring that you can't remove until the coupling, spring, and bearing are off.
I use a "cheese cutter" or bearing seperator to grab the lip of the coupling by pushing down the spring some. Use this to support on press blocks and then push on the shaft.

I just finished within the last two weeks turning a G governor shaft assembly into an A governor shaft assembly. So everything is still fresh in my mind. I had an unservicable A1172R shaft with a long lug mag-coupler on it to look at. I am pretty sure that the shaft was peened over. Captivating the coupler on the shaft. The G shaft however was not. I think the B is different as the governor weights are on the driven gear, Separate from the fan drive. At any rate. The gears and bearings are quite a fit on the shaft, As the shaft measured around .7517 and the gears are .75ish. I used a large arbor press and a propane torch for help. I never removed either mag coupler and i put a new bearing on the mag end.
