4430 hitch lowers when you use remotes ?

I have a 148 loader on my 4430 Powershift and I m using the tractor remotes for the loader.I noticed today that when you have a bale raised in the hitch and the pull the right hand remote to raise or lower the loader the hitch will drop about 3 inches then when you put the remote lever back to center it raises back up. It doesn t do this unless you have weight on the hitch. The hitch stays up when the tractor is shut off instead of drifting down like some do.I just had a rebuilt front Powershift unit put in and the rockshaft valve rebuilt a month ago. It seems like the Rockshaft valve and the right hand remote is getting hotter than the left hand one is you cant hold your hand on it after using it for a while I m not sure how hot they usually get. Do I still have a leak in the rockshaft valve ? The transmission temp light has never came on so will it hurt to use it this way ?

You're correct in that leaking closed center hyd valves create heat. I think the RS valves or RS piston seal are leaking BUT the thing I don't understand is you stated 3 pt remains up with engine off.

one or both valves are leaking . Start tractor cold and feel the valves to see which one heats up first . I think the rockshaft valve isn"t adjusted right causing the problem .

Are you talking about the linkage to the rockshaft valve ? If so what is the proper procedure for adjusting it ? It may be the linkage is adjusted wrong because I shortened it by about 1/2 inch before the control valve was rebuilt just so it would go high enough to lift a bale off the ground.

That"s most likely your problem. There is a procedure in the teck. manual to adjust the valves and linkages IN THE PROPER ORDER .This includes the negative stop adjustment .

Yes as Don stated you need to follow all the steps in order. The free travel in your 3pt lever is probably a bit tight along with leakage in the SCV's causing a premature pressure drop,,and also a leaking cylinder packing in one of the loader cylinders could also add to the problem,,as we have said many times the SCV's are not a good way to run the loader...
