Early 70 gas thermostat and napa

I was thinking for some reason someone once told me I could find a thermostat to fit my early 70 gas tractor at napa. I don't think my tractor has a thermostat in it at all otherwise I could pull the old one out and take it with to match it up. I can order a thermostat from the local Deere dealer for a measly $180. Probably more than any thermostat is worth in my opinion. Any ideas?

Below serial #8124,gas tractor has therm # Af 1522R Avail at NAPA, and yes much less than DEERE.If you think yours does not have one, why would you even entertain the search. Therm will be above your block, or you may have a BELLOWS type in the bottom RAD tank, which will be easy to distinguish. Above serial # 31300, will be in upper water pipe at elbow to top tank.Part # AA 5749 R.

I put a brand new temp gauge in it and the needle still rests on the pin. I figure I need a thermostat to use it in the winter to plow snow. I was assuming that it had a thermostat at one time and it has been removed, that is why I am considering finding one and putting it in. make sense or no?
