I had a 620 one time that when you turned it, it would want to lock up every now and again. I finally took the pedestal part of it apart and found 2 broken bolts that hold the veins. When turned just right they would catch.

Always check the motor oil. I have a 70 with power steering, and the power steering fluid would leak into the motor.

So you rebuilt the Power Steering Pump, or did you just replace the seal on the power steering pump on the fan shaft?

Gary,

Look at this post from FIT. If the pins in the actuating sleeve are binding it could work for awhile then lock up. When this happens no pressure will to be diverted to the needed direction to assist with steering.

the woodruff keys in the pump were so bad it all most seem that they mite not drive ,so put in new ones .rest of pump was ok. I looked at post from fit an printed it off , there was plenty of oil in the steering resivor an the seal on back of pump was not leaking in to the engine thanks guys
