John Deere A value

What is a realistic value on a 1948 John Deere A that has had some restoration? No work done on the engine or running gear and is missing the flywheel cover. Radiator and carb will have to be cleaned. Everything else works and the owner says he drove it last fall. Needs a new battery.
 
Judging by the auction at the NY Expo this year. Maybe a $1000 and will be less next year.
Unless the tractor is rare or can earn it's living with live pto, live hydraulics , three point hitch and fit into a standard automotive garage . It's just an old tractor.
There are more collections being broken up and sold at estate sales now than are collections being assembled.
 
Sad ain't it. It has come to a time on the planet that no longer produced machines are going the way of 'Honest' politicians.
 
I gave 500 for a non running 48 A . It didn't have a carb , mag or air cleaner. I bought all that stuff 275 dollars. The back tires were real good shape and the front had good thread but weather checked. The tin and grills were in good shape. I would of liked to bought a fixed up on but the funds are kinda low for me. So I will fix this one up a little at a time and I saved one from the scrapers .

I already have it's mirror image at home and had bought a tractor already at the auction, so I had to let it pass....but it was tough
