2010 Hydraulic/Trans fluid leak??

2010 started leaking significant amount of fluid from weep hole on joint where trans housing meets clutch housing. Noticed it after cutting for several hours with haybine. Seems to be transmission related as I could not duplicated by exercising the remotes. Also started leaking again when I hooked tractor up to round baler. But it didn"t appear to be leaking when I checked after ejecting a bale.

Anyone have experience with this issue? I am between a rock and a hard place as this is the only tractor I have to run the baler and haybine. I do have the SM and Parts Manual.

Thanks.

Have you looked in the round hole on the left side of the clutch housing or taken the rectangular cover off the bottom of the clutch housing to see if you can tell where it is leaking from ?? How are the fluid levels in the transmission and engine ? Several areas it could come from such as the line to the power steering, "O" rings to the remote valve on the top of transmission front cover, cover to the proportioning valve, hdy pump it's self, back side of the hdy pump mating to transmission front cover or the oil seal on the clutch throw-out bearing carrier. If the oil is black it could be the engine rear main seal. Sorry I don't have a spot on location for your leak, it's one of those look-see whats leaking things. Just offering moral support before the 2010 basher's show up..LOL.

The weep hole is in the bottom of the clutch housing and the hydraulic pump is up in there. You can remove the square plate with the four bolts. Maybe you can see where it is coming from. There is a round snap in cover on the RH side, you can also look in there.

Thanks for the ideas. I had studied the SM and the Parts Manual so I knew what was in there. Definitely not engine oil as it was clear. And working the PS and Hydraulic with tractor running but not moving did not cause leakage. But moving the tractor with no hydraulic or PTO use did cause leaking, but it stopped quickly when I parked the tractor, with engine running.

So I am leaning towards the drive shaft input to transmission. Was too hot to really check, and I have been tied up today so haven"t been able to pull the two covers.

Yes, I know all about the 2010 bashers. Tractor with a super bad rep, but this is a late "64 model and has been really reliable, except for some starter issues (Parts N/A for the Prestolite used on the Diesel model).

Dug out the Power-Trol I bought for our old "44 A and guess I will pull the power lift and install this. I have run the NH 477 with it numerous times before, and it should handle the little Hesston 5530 OK.
