john deere 730

Got a john deere 730 that has not been cranked in several years, drained fuel tank, settlement bowl and bowl on carb, pull the choke out and it cranks up perfect but if you give it some gas it dies, if you push in the choke it dies but it will idle all day with the choke pulled out. Any reocmmendations?

make sure your getting a good gas flow from tank

remove & clean Carb.. Really clean it....

That carburetor has plugged or crudded up idle passages. Dipping it in a carb cleaner won't do the job. Those idle passages need to be drilled out. Unfortunately that involves removing those pesky stainless steel balls which plug off the ports to clean the idle passages. Call JJ at 618-967-6816 he's the best 2 cylinder carburetor guy I know. He works for the JD dealer during the day on L&G equipment and antique tractors by night. He did 5 of the two-barrel carbs for me now and not one has been back to him.
