Question for anyone belonging to a Tractor Club

Our Club has for some years paid for the trucking for various pcs of equipment. This included a Steam Engine. Some of the members are at odds to pay or not. Most folks bring their own equipment, but some have been spoiled by this practice. What do other clubs do to get some variety in their shows? Does anyone else pay for transportion?

I have heard that on the large entries that has been done. You have the weigh the draw of the crowd, with this, advertising, etc.

One of our local clubs paid to have a steamer hauled to it's show to run the saw mill for a few years. As I understand it, this caused some stress and was questioned by some members. They stopped paying to haul the steamer, the steamer did not come back and the show goes on without it. The club could afford it (didn't cost much) but I think it was the principle that some got expenses paid and other exhibitors/workers didn't. So, I'm not sure what the moral of this story is but I can see the steamers side as they are big, heavy and a lot of work to haul.

I belong to the Arkansas Valley Antique Tractor Club located in Ozark, Arkansas. Each member is responsible for the cost of transporting what they want to exhibit at our show. Bear in mind, no member in our club has a steam tractor to exhibit.

Anyone who wants to display at our stuff is responsible for their own transportation costs; we do have a hardship clause where we could help a member out in a case of bad times, but the only thing we pay for is scales at our pulls. Frankly I think most of us would pay to keep steam stuff away! LOL

Tow money has been paid for many years in all types of motorsports to help bring a crowd and it is usually to something that will draw more people. The problem is the same in all club type activities there are always a few that complain about everything and eventually people move on.To bring a WaterlooBoy or a B JohnDeere are two different things.I just helped a small amount on a project to haul BigBud to our museum and it would have cost many $s but everyone including both semis donated their time and expenses as it will be a major draw we hope. Our county fair just ended and the amount of donated time and labor, and equiptment to make it happen sometime goes unnoticed as it is a labor of love and it is like pulling someone out of a ditch a ThankYou is better than cash.

Thanks for the input. I guess there are several ways to look at this issue. At issue here is that those who do no or very little work for the club want to pay for everything. Thanks

Big Bud is in Clarion but is in one of Larry Maasdam sheds until its place in the new museum is done.Makes my 9530 look small.
