18.4.38 tire on 4020

I don't have a pic handy but on our 1967 4020 with cab, we found that when we went from duals to 18.4 x 38's, that the larger tires would not clear the fenders on the cab. Had to go to 18.4 x 34's. Just sayin'.

I think they are way too big, and I have a 4020 lp with them on it and 20s on the front but you can see were your going good.

I dont have a picture handy but they were an option in 71/72 along with the 4320 type fender. The plus is they will run well over 20MPH the minus is they are taller to get on and fender clearance is minimal but will work.My personal preference is 16.9x38 or 18.4x34 but both sizes are hard to find excellent used and 18.4x38 seem to be easy to find .

(quoted from post at 22:41:51 07/15/13) How much does it change the working speed of the other gears? Will I lose any horsepower?
Thanks Shaun.

Larger diameter tires will require more engine torque when pulling hard. Back when 4020's were new a lot of 4020's in my area were sold new with 18.4X38's to peanut farmers operating in sugar sand.
