He has the best looking 46A.

If it has the pan seat, the decal that says model A
goes on the seat frame so it reads downhill when
read from the clutch side, i think. The A wasn't on
the grill until the box seats came out.

Thank you for the compliment James Howell. She is actually an early 47 model. The only difference between early 47 and 46 is the drawbar. The ole girl doesn't get out much anymore. Just sits in the garage most of the time.

oldmanandakid, watch out! 47 was the changeover year. If you have an early to mid 47 it looks like mine. The late 47 (box seat and stamped frame) it has the circle A on the hood and a couple of other decals that are different.

Thanks JDF, I do have the late 47 (early48). Regardless of the model, you have certainly set a high standard for work. Beautiful tractor.

Thanks for posting your pictures johndeerefan. I have been following this thread cause I too am restoring a 46 A. I guess the measurements needed would be for the "model A" decal on the seat bar and the "John Deere" on the hood. They both appear to be centered but??
I have mine all stripped down to bare steel. I hope she turns out as nice as yours.

Matt let's bump this to the top because I have a 47A and need the same information.
46 and 47 will be different if the 47 is late styled.

I think they were centered, but I will measure to be sure. Some of the A's hood decal was pushed towards the front, but this year range were centered.
