On my 29 gp carb after several tries I am giving up. I cant get it right and was wandering who is the best to send it to. Are those carbs hard to get right? Or am I missing something simple. I have cleaned and cleaned and can't get no gas through.

Dan. I've never had a GP carb apart but I do know you have to have the main jet open and of course the needle and seat and float must be working properly to get gas INTO the engine. Can't really be that hard I wouldnt think. Maybe I'm wrong !!! I sent my carb to poppinjohn at poppinjohn carbs dot com. He has a business doing JD carbs. He's not getting mine done this week as he and his family is Iowa for a show. Thread repair on my Dltx 53. Hopefully I'll get it back soon !!!

As I said a few days ago. Cork Groth in Eldridge Ia. 563-285-7009 he specializes in GP's........

The Ensign BJ-1 is a very fussy carb. Air leaks are the biggest culprit. Most gasket kits sold for it have the wrong thickness bowl gasket. This normally will allow gas to just pour into the cylinders. Because is doesn't allow the needle to seat. The jets adjust opposite from what you would think. In for more gas out for less. Cork Groth of Eldrige, IA took care of mine for me. He has a few machining fixes for them, and he makes his own gaskets for them. He will also put it on one of his GPs and test it before sending it back. He is very timely and reasonable on price. My 29 GP starts in 4 revelutions of the the flywheel every time.
