4010 fuel filter change

My father has a John Deere 4010 tractor. He asked me to see if I could find a way of changing the fuel filters without having to bleed the fuel lines afterword?

Looks like 2 green metal canisters facing each other. Somebody told him to look for the hand pump?

Ordered an operator"s manual, taking it"s time getting here. Hoping it contains the information he"s looking for.

Read on another post about converting to other filter systems. Not sure if he"d be interested, but would greatly appreciate any information.

Thank you, Noel

Just change both filters then open bleed screw(parts key #10) on top filter then pump lever on lift pump to purge the air. When diesel comes out of bleeder, tighten bleeder & crank engine. If when pumping hand pump no resistance is felt bump engine a little to get cam lobe away from lift lever.

I hae changed several 3010 and 4010 fuel filter setups and it is easy and much better to change filters on.There are two ways to do it,you can get a base off a 4020 that uses the two spin on filters(they are often listed on Ebay). You have to put a slight bend in the fuel line to make it line up right.Or you can buy the latter style base that uses a single glass filter. Most of the original 4010 filters leak some and they are a pain to change filters on,for about $40-75 you can buy a 4020 base.If you use the hand pump to get the air out of both filters you should not have to bleed the injecters. With the 4020 spin on filters we fill the bottom filter with fuel before putting it on(saves wear and tear on your finger from the hand pump)LOL

If you can't find the lever they sometimes break off or someone could have installed a fuel pump for gas tractor.
