Watch where you get those plug wires!

I have been working on my 720 LP gas trying to get her to run like I know she should... Finally found a problem in the regulator that was causing a leak by the low pressure valve. I got that fixed and had her running like a champ. Later before dark I went to put her in the shed for the night and when I started it... it was missing and popping... It was just dark enough that I noticed a stray spark every now and then from the plug wire boot to the frame of the tractor!!!! It was jumping right through the boot!!!! I had just bought those wires a couple weeks ago at Tractor Supply as a universal set... Next day I went and bought a new set of 7mm wires from the auto parts store. (ended up buying a set for an older 350 chevy to get what I needed) and put them on... now, she runs perfect and starts great.... Lesson learned.. Just had to share.

Or mabe not? Those sound like carbon fibre supression wires and these old machines work best with real wire in the wires.

True.... But only if your still running the original breaker points ignition. I have converted this to Pertronix electronic ignition a while back.. LP gas tractors were known to like a LOT of spark..
