JD 534 blade.

Hello all,

Going to look at a JD 534 blade soon to mount on our 4630. It is being taken off of a 4620 tractor, but the dealer believes it should swap over without too much fuss.

Anyone here experienced with these things? Is there more to swapping it over? What should I be looking for on this blade before I buy it? anything besides general condition of the cutting edge and shoes?

the angle is manual, but thinking about converting it to hyd. anyone here done that and have some pointers?

Also, the tractor currently has a 158 loader which we use on occasion. is there any way to modify the blade mounts so I can have both the loader and blade mounts on the machine at the same time?

Thanks for your help!

You could also look for excessive wear on the pins and bushings. If it mounts like I'm thinking it does you will have to remove all of the mounting brakets on the front of the tractor everytime you want to put the loader back on and then re-install all of the blade mounting pieces when you are done with the loader.

The only good way I can envision to mount both the 158 & 534 would be to cut the loader frames off where they have a history of cracking/breaking(left side the area in question is toward the rear of where parts key#7 attaches) where sq bars meet the the flat iron saddles then cut 534 brackets to correct length and weld both remaining mount parts together.

You don't think the tube between the two loader arms will clear the lifting/mounting bracket for the dozer blade?....

This could be a chore, was hoping I could leave that hooked up... I should be able to use the loader HYD remotes to run the dozer yes?

Operating both blade & loader from the scv's would be the easiest part. It's been way too long since I've seen a 534 for me to testify if loader boom would clear frt blade lift parts.

Thanks for the reply Jim.

What you're describing is pretty much what I'm envisioning for mating the two together.

cutting the dozer mount and mating it to the loader mount shouldn't cause either to lack in strength should it? If anything, I think it should make the loader mount stronger.
