adding mid pto on 1020

I recently found a JD 1020 that doesn't have mid pto. I want to use it to run a #50 mid mount mower. How hard is it to add a mid pto to this? Are the internals there? There is a spot for a second lever near the left foot support that is just plugged off. Any ideas?

What's the hydraulic capacity of the 1020? Driving the jackshaft with a hydraulic motor might work? It would have the advantage of being able to be reversed (if you plumbed it that way) which will aid clearing plug-ups in the cutterbar.

Not enough hydraulic capacity.
You would need really deep pockets to add the mid pto.
Check with salvage yards for parts.

I agree with D. One would need to change a lot of parts especially if 1020 has standard dual stage clutch 540 pto now. The parts in the top photo are just some of the parts required to be interchanged. I'll suggest to find a tractor already equipped with mid pto.

Thanks guys. That's kind of what I figured but its an extremely nice original tractor and that's what I thought I would ask. Thanks again. Aaron
